Joint investment by K Cube Venture and Partners Investment of US$1.7m into game MCN specialist startup, Kong Doo Company.

On the 6th, the joint investment was confirmed between K Cube Ventures, a specialist investor into internet, mobile and technology and Partners Investment. The investment is into a game company Kong Doo Company which specializes in MCN (Multi Channel Network) for games and the investment worth US$1.7m (KRW 2b)

Kong Doo Company Professional is Korea’s premier gaming MCN originally starting with StarCraft gamers Hong Jin Ho and Kim Taek Young. For the currently popular e-Sport, the company has taken on 50 gamers as part of the channel crew. The company promotes diversity in their contents by allowing active participation of channel crew through personal broadcasts and participation in e-Sports league exhibitions. These events also allow the channel crew member to gain recognition as a gamer.

For the Korean domestic market, companies like Afreeca TV, Youtube, YYTV, LongzhuTV, DouyuTV, Twitch TV, and other famous internet broadcasting and VOD service platforms are developing MCN. The management team of Kong Doo provide support to its crew members for preparation and production of personal broadcast contents. Kong Doo Company MCN service offers support to crew member of the various leagues and events, for branding and marketing.

By utilizing the game specialization and stardom of their Crew members, the channel cooperates with various platforms to provide game tests and reviews, video production and game related marketing services. Kong Doo Company plans to strengthen the MCN business with the investment.

The company is active in recruiting new specialist crew members and with the goal of developing e-Sport talent is planning to develop Kong Doo Academy that will specialize in pro-gaming and MCN. It is also developing their own app that will service users by unique contents that provides tips and game league information.

Seo Kyoung Jong the representative of Kong Doo said, “We wish to develop into a MCN entertainment company that provides various opportunities for game content developers as well as gamers”.

Shin Min Gyun who was instrumental in leading the investment for K Cube Ventures said, “There are many internet broadcasting companies focusing on MCN of which gaming accounts for more than half the internet content broadcasting market. We are hopeful that Kong Doo who have much experience in game MCN will be successful in the field of e-Sport”.
