Mobile game OriginGames has secured US$1.7m (KRW 20b) from two very well known Venture Capital companies; American VC Altos Ventures; and Bon Angels Venture Partners who were the first VC in Korea to specifically target startup investments.

Origin game is a startup specializing in mobile games. Their key personnel include webgen ‘R2’ and C9’ team leaders, and key development team members from Nexen ‘Dungeon and Fighter’. They are currently developing a mobile game called ‘Project Crocus’.

‘Project Crocus’ is expected to be released next year and will combine cartoon style animation with physical action. The game development team are well experienced with online and mobile games, and future developments will be action combo stype RPG games.

Jung Moon Jeong a representative from Origin Games said, “This investment has given us the opportunity to develop an action game. This is what the team is best at, and we have global plans for mobile RPG games”.

Han Kim, the key investment lead from Altos Ventures commented, “Orign Games has a developed teamwork for RPG games in planning, artwork, programming and various other specialized skilled team members. We have high hopes that through their distinguishable skills that other competitors do not have, that they will become competitive global players”.
