Following reports of office raids the day before, Samsung Display denied that it had been investigated for technology espionage against its rival LG Display.

Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency - also the cyber crime unit of the country - conducted plant and office raids based on allegations that Samsung stole LG's patented OLED technology through suppliers.

"Samsung is the only company in the world possessing OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology. Our concern is that our technology may be leaked, not vice versa,” said Ki-nam Kim, Samsung Display's chief executive.

On the other hand, LG seemed to be relieved over the police investigation as there would be a classic case of "the pot calling the kettle back" once the authorities found any wrongdoing.

The Korean prosecution indicted current and former employees from both companies with regards to this issue. The two companies have been locked in an ongoing legal battle and seemed ready to call a truce after government intervention.

However, it seems that the reconciliation is once again broken by the recent police raid.

Samsung has 89% share in the global OLED market, but the figure applies to only small to mid-sized panels; or so LG argues. Samsung will launch flat and curved OLED TVs by summer (June-July) of 2013, so it will be interesting to see as far as the legal disputes go. What do you think?
