Singapore Accelerator JFDI.Asia Announces Next Batch of Startups
2013년 08월 29일

JFDI AsiaSingapore accelerator Joyful Frog Digital Incubator (JFDI.Asia) has selected ten teams to begin its next 100-day startup accelerator program. The teams were chosen in an open competition that attracted 321 applications.

JFDI was founded in 2010 in Singapore by Hugh Mason and Wong Meng Weng with financial support from successful entrepreneurs based in Singapore. In 2011 JFDI.Asia became the first SouthEast Asia member of the Global Accelerator Network (GAN) set up by US acceleration pioneer TechStars, on which JFDI.Asia is closely modelled. More than 60% of teams completing the JFDI.Asia program 2012 succeeded in raising an average S$650k per team.

In exchange for a minority equity stake, every team joining will be offered a package including S$15,000 (USD 11,700) net cash, mentoring valued at S$150,000 (USD 117,000), technical and other vendor perks worth S$300,000 (USD 234,000) and working space for the duration of the program.

Hugh Mason, Co-founder and Chief Executive at JFDI.Asia, said: “It’s very clear from the range of teams applying to us that high quality entrepreneurial teams from around the world are attracted to Singapore. Each time we recruit, the maturity and quality of applicants we see goes up. This time almost all the teams have a prototype already and one has over a million users. Doing the selection was really tough, in a good way, and we are delighted to have a really diverse set of startups joining us this week.”

The 30 founders joining JFDI.Asia on Thursday have nationalities as follows: Vietnam and the US (5 founders each), France, Singapore and Taiwan (4 founders each), India and Thailand (3 founders each), followed by Canada and the Philippines (1 founder each)
