Removal service Zimcar, secures investment with support of local council

Zimcar is an innovative house removal service developed by ‘Five Thirty’ who are located in the Cultural Creation Hub of PanGyo in the KyungGi province of Korea.  Recently, with the assistance of the Kyung Gi local council, Five Thirty have secured investments from ‘Big Bang Angels’.

To celebrate this success, a signing ceremony was held on the 26th of August at the Kyung Gi Culture Creation Hub in PanGyo and was attended by members of Five Thirty, Big Bang Angels, Roa Consulting, Kyung Hee University and Intel Korea.

‘Zimcar’ is an O2O (Online to Offline) service specialising in the removal of one room households.  The term one-room refers to residential properties with a single room which are increasingly popular in Korea. To use the service, users are required to fill out the list of items required to be moved along with any relevant information.  Information can be entered on the computer or through a smartphone.  The service then provides the user will a cost through an automatic estimation system.

Since its launch in May, they have experienced a growing popularity for its convenient app through word of mouth.  In Korea it is estimated that there are over 5 million single-room dwellings.  This total is expected to increase by more than 10 per cent in the next 15 years.

The province of Kyung Gi established the ‘PanGyo Culture Creation Hub’ in order to revitalise the economy.  Within a year from opening, the hub had created 119 new establishments, created 450 jobs and 1701 cases for support of startups.  This success was recognised by the President’s award for ‘2015 National local government job creation Grand prize’.

Jung Sang Hwa, representative of Zimcar revealed that ‘Zimcar will continue to grow as a removal service provider through its strong customer focus”. Hwang Byung Sun the CEO of Big Bang Angels stated “Zimcar has many strengths to offer to the growing market of removal services specialising in single to double room dwellings”.

An authority from the Kyung Gi body, disclosed that “the Culture Creation Hub aims to accelerate the development of innovative startups’”, saying, “This is the first case whereby a startup supported by the Kyung Gi province has moved in the Culture Creation Hub”.
