Asians Always Get The Best Toys – 5.9 Inch Pantech To Hit Korean Stores
2013년 01월 29일

Quick on the heels of Pantech’s announcement of major new investment from Qualcomm, comes the release of the largest full HD smartphone on the market; Vega No. 6.

The handset runs on the latest Android Jelly Bean platform and features a natural IPS Pro Full HD LCD which, according to Pantech, enables screen quality 2.3 times sharper than existing HD displays on a 5.9-inch size optimized for HD.

"Last year, long-term evolution (LTE) and quad-core were the keywords for competition. We thought the next trend would full HD displays," company vice president Lee Jun-woo told reporters.

The handset also boasts a 13 megapixel camera and a "V touch" feature, allowing users to control various features on the back of the device.

The new phones will be available in Korea from February, though no release date has been confirmed for other markets (Asians always get the best toys!)

The company’s flagship LTE phone, Vega R3 which was released in 2012, sold 800k – 900k units and the company is confident of surpassing that mark with the Vega 6.

The move towards bigger phones can be seen as Pantech entering the ‘phablet’ market, which has taken off since Samsung released it’s first Galaxy Note. Its major competitors remain Samsung with its Galaxy Note 2 and LG’s Optimus Vu. LG will also be releasing its 5.5 inch Optimus G Pro in the first quarter of this year as we reported last week.
